About eat your cake too

Eat your cake too mission statement

We believe magic belongs in every child’s life, no matter what their family is facing. Our birthday boxes are a simple way to say: you matter, you’re loved, and we see you. No judgment. No hoops. Just joy, delivered.

Who we are

We’re a volunteer-led project committed to making sure every child feels seen on their birthday. No matter a family’s circumstances, all kids deserve a day that’s just about them. This program exists because we know what it’s like to juggle too much with too little. Our goal is simple: bring joy, restore dignity, and remind families they’re not alone.

meet our team

As it frequently happens, I texted Sam one day and said, “Hey, I had an idea for something. I’d like to know what you think.”Within ten minutes, she was all in and within an hour, we had a name, a plan, and matching spreadsheets ready for our binders. We’re just two moms with some shared experiences and the belief that no kid should go unnoticed on their birthday. This project is personal for both of us, and we’re thrilled to do it together.

Jess, co-founder

I’m excited to be part of something that brings together two of my favorite things: party planning and making kids smile. I’m thrilled to do this with my best friend and am looking forward to helping families with a project that covers the gap in nonprofits.I know what it’s like to want to give your kid the world but barely being able to afford a cake. I also remember being that kid, one of eight, when birthdays were a hug and love and trying hard to not wish your family could afford something more.Back then, I probably would have happily traded a sibling for a slice of chocolate cake… so now I’m here to make sure no family has to choose between bratty brothers and buttercream.

Sam, co-founder

Why did I want to be a part of this? Because if it wasn’t for the help of my own mother I would not have been able to provide birthdays for my own child years ago. I know first-hand the heartache and struggle of wanting to do something and not being able to.It’s vitally important to me to do everything in my power to make sure no child goes without. There are already so many organizations that provide holiday support but how many focus on the individual moments? That’s our goal. To help you create lasting memories for your child on their special day. Let us help you have your cake and eat it too!!

All of our boxes are individualized to your child and include the following items:

Unwrapped gift
This gift is left unwrapped so that you can wrap it and be the one to gift it to your child.
Wrapping paper or gift bag
And, yes, we will probably forget to include tape.
Small gift from us
Something little to your child from a team who care.
Serveware for cake
Plates, napkins, and forks for however many people you’ll be sharing your child’s cake with.
Birthday banner or decorations
What child doesn’t need a balloon to play ‘keepy uppsies’ with until they inevitably pop it?
Game or craft for a birthday activity
Your child doesn’t need a huge fuss to feel like the most important person. Many kids would love an afternoon of games or creative play with their family.

Frequently asked questions

Why didn’t my child get a box but another kid did?
Sometimes it comes down to timing, funding, or limited volunteer capacity. We do our best to say yes, but we can’t guarantee every request.
Can I sign up a child who I’m raising but who isn’t biologically my child?
Absolutely; guardians, foster parents, relatives, and chosen family are all welcome to apply.
Can I apply for someone else’s kid as a surprise?
While that’s a thoughtful idea, we do ask that only parent(s)/guardian(s) apply for a box for their child.
My kid hates cake. Is there an option to swap it?
You bet! We’ve got cookies, brownies, donuts, and more. Just tell us what works.
Can I request specific gifts or themes for the box?
You can! We ask for interests and favorite colors so we can personalize the box as much as possible. Gifts are dependent on funds, timing, and many other factors that could impact our ability to get a specific item.
What documents do you need for the application?
The only document(s) we require are: something with your child’s name and birthday on it for proof of birth date. Then something with your name and your child’s name on it for proof of relationship.
If I have multiple kids, can I sign them all up?
Of course! It’s one box per child per year, so just submit a form close to each birthday.
Can I use the cake and decorations you send for my child’s party?
You sure can! Our birthday boxes are designed to support a celebration for 4–8 guests, usually family members. Boxes are built to serve 4–8 people, with exceptions made for larger households.
What’s the latest I can apply?
We ask for as much notice as possible, but if your child’s birthday is 7 or fewer days away, please contact us right after applying so we can let you know quickly if we can help.
How much do your boxes cost?
They’re free! Every single box is made possible by donors who care deeply about kids being celebrated.
I want to help. What can I do?
We love that! You can donate items, sponsor a box, or share our info with others. Check out our Donor Hub for all the ways to pitch in.

Past boxes

A brief glimpse in the birthday boxes we’ve built and delivered in the past.

Every box is a reminder to a child that they matter. Whether it’s a superhero cake, new art supplies, or just a balloon and a banner, each one is packed with care and a whole lot of love. Here’s a peek at some of the birthdays we’ve helped celebrate.

A friendly reminder:
We will never post a photograph of a recipient’s face, identifying characteristics, or any image that could expose the child’s identity on our website, social medias, or elsewhere.

Donor FAQs

Is my donation tax deductible?
Not yet! We’re an Indiana recognized nonprofit, but not yet Federally registered, so donations aren’t tax deductible (for now).
Why don’t you just give money directly to the families?
We’re here to do, not delegate. This project isn’t just about money. It’s about effort, care, and real celebration.
How do I know my donation was received and used?
We believe in FULL transparency. Ask for our cost/donation sheets anytime, no hoops, no nonsense.
Can I choose which child or family my donation helps?
Unless you’re sponsoring a full $100 box, donations are pooled to serve as many local kids as possible.
How do you decide which families get a box?
It depends entirely on how much money or supplies we have at the time of your request.
Can I donate used items?
We want to stick to new items only as it’s about giving each child something that feels truly theirs.
Can I donate anonymously?
Absolutely. We respect your privacy and are grateful for your help.
Can I sponsor a box in honor or memory of someone?
Absolutely - honoring someone through kindness is a beautiful gesture.
Can I donate $5 instead of $100?
Of course! Every dollar helps make these birthdays possible.

Piece of Cake FUNdraiser hosted by EYC2 Corp
How to Play:
Explanation:
This is a guessing game where you pay to enter, make your guesses, and if your number is the closest to the final total, you win half the money raised in this fundraiser. Every $5 you spend gets you 2 guesses. The total grows with every entry, so the more people play, the bigger the prize pot.
Step by Step Instructions:
1. Read rules, regulations, and requirements to understand contest details.
2. Choose the number of guesses you would like to have (must be an even number as entrance fees are sold in sets of twos) and send the amount that covers that number of guesses.
- Guesses are sold in bundles of 2/$5.
- Example: if you want 20 guesses, send $50 to one of the listed payment methods.
3. Immediately after sending payment, send a message to one of our listed communication methods that includes:
Name
Phone Number
What platform you sent your payment to
Guess 1: $XX.XX
Guess 2: $XX.XX
(Unlimited guesses so long as you paid the correct amount)
4. Repeat step two if you would like to purchase more guesses after your first purchase.
- Remember: with every payment submitted, the total changes.
5. Wait for results to be announced on the Eat Your Cake Too Facebook page on Sept. 30th or Oct. 1st.
- All times, deadlines, and dates are based on the EST timezone.
- Cross your fingers and hope you estimated correctly.

Piece of Cake FUNdraiser
Prize Clarification and How to Win:

Closest Guess
- How to Win: the winner of this prize will be the participant whose guess is numerically closest to the final verified contest total, whether their guess is higher or lower.
- Tie: in the event of a tie, the prize will be split evenly between all tied participants.
- Prize: the participant with the closest guess who wins this title will receive fifty percent of the contest total. The winner will also receive a Sponsor of the Month plaque for September 2025.

Furthest Guess
- How to Win: the winner of this prize will be the participant whose guess was numerically furthest to the final verified contest total, whether their guess was higher or lower.
- Tie: in the event of a tie for this prize, the winner will be who submitted their guess first. All entries are time stamped to the second and will be checked in case of a ‘furthest guess’ tie.
- Prize: the participant with the furthest guess who wins this title will receive a mystery box of prizes.

Piece of Cake FUNdraiser
Rules, Regulations, and Requirements:

This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and is void where prohibited.• All times and deadlines listed are listed as Eastern Standard Times. You must translate EST to your timezone so that you know the precise time of deadlines.• Submit two guesses for every $5, guesses must be a single number, not a range (cents allowed).
• Examples:
- 122 - $178 is not okay
- $87.96 is okay
• In the case of a tie, the ‘closest guess* prize will be split evenly amongst winners regardless of how many winners there may be.
- We encourage contest participants to submit their guess with a specific cent amount to help prevent ties (example: $45.07 instead of $45).
• Contest ends Sep 29 at 11:59pm EST, winner announced Sep 30.
- Any entrees timestamped after 11:59pm EST on September 29th are not eligible for consideration.
• Contest is open to any adult (person over 18 years of age), not only Sullivan County residents. If a participant lives greater than 30 miles from Sullivan, Indiana they must have a digital payment method available for monetary prize and provide an address for the Sponsor of the Month plaque.Ineligible to enter:
- Anyone under 18 years old
- Anyone residing in a state where a cash prize is prohibited
- Any and all family members/relatives/household members to EYC2 Corp’s founders.
• There are no max guesses per person, but $5/2 guesses is the minimum. You cannot buy 1 guess for $2.50.
• Examples:
- Buying 40 entrees for $100 and submitting 40 guesses is okay.
- Sending $2.50 for one guess is not okay.
• You cannot submit guesses before sending purchase fees. If you do, you run the risk of being disqualified.• You also do not have to purchase all of your guesses at once. You can make multiple purchases through the month so long as you submit your guesses for each purchase immediately after making it.• Only game entry fees go toward the total pot. All other donations are not included.
◦ Example:
- You send $50 to sponsor a birthday box and you do not want to be part of the contest. All $50 will be utilized as requested for the charity and will not count toward or be used for the Piece of Cake contest.
• Family members of founders cannot enter.
- While even the founders will not know the total until the contest ends, our family members are excluded from this contest. This is included so that the integrity and honesty that we prioritize is never questioned by the community that supports us.
• Winner is the guess closest to the total, whether over or under (not “Price is Right” rules).
• Example: total is $50
- Dean guessed $1and Sam guessed $72
- Dean was $49 short, Sam was $22 over
- Sam was closest to the total and won $25
• No refunds, unless decided on a case by case basis.
- Examples:
- You sent money on Sept 28th, but forgot to send your guesses until Sept 30th at 12:03am EST so you were disqualified from consideration. Because of that, you request your money back since you weren’t able to participate due to the missed deadline. We will not give a refund.
• If for any reason EYC2 is forced to end the contest prematurely and unable to fulfill our expectations in a timely manner, we will refund entry fees to everyone who requests one. This cancellation will be announced on our social media with a note for participants seeking a refund to contact us. In this specific instance, all valid participants will be refunded their fees within 30 days after contest cancellation.• You cannot submit a guess before sending payment.
• Always send payment first and follow immediately with your information and guesses.
• Once you have submitted your guesses, you cannot change them for any reason. If you submitted invalid guesses (example: you submitted $100-200 as a guess instead of $150.50), they will not be considered a valid entry and will be disqualified with no refund.• All prize(s) will be delivered or mailed to the winner(s) between October 1st and October 10th. Physical prizes to out of area winner(s) will be post marked before 11:59pm EST on October 10th, but EYC2 Corp is not responsible for delayed packages, missing or stolen packages, or any other issue that prevents the prize from arriving on time.• Monetary prize will be delivered with cash or digital payment method at the discretion of EYC2 Corp staff with no exceptions. If we decide to deliver it via digital payment method, we will endeavor to send it with the method you used to buy the entries.
- Okay Methods: CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, Facebook Pay, or cash
- Not okay: check, money order, gift card, or any other payment method not listed in the above bullet.
• After the end of the contest, the total amount, the prize amount, and the closest and furthest guesses will be listed. For privacy, the name of the winner(s) will not be posted publicly so you can choose to say you won or not.
- Example:
- We might post: “Congrats to our big winner! All together, we raised $120 for Eat Your Cake Too! The closest guess was $118, only two dollars off and the participant who guessed that will be receiving $60! The furthest guess came in at $610, a whopping $490 difference, and that participant will receive a ‘furthest guess’ prize.”
- If you choose to say you won, that’s your decision, but as this is a cash prize, we will not announce it on your behalf.
• By entering the Piece of Cake Fundraiser ran by the EYC2 Corp, you acknowledge that entry to the contest is voluntary and EYC2 Corp and all individuals related to the nonprofit are not responsible for anything beyond the scope of responsibilities listed here.• EYC2 Corp is not responsible for any error or mistake made on the participant’s behalf. The rules and regulations are listed here and should be read carefully prior to entry to the contest.• EYC2 Corp will make every honest effort to contact the winners of the contest. If a winner does not reply by 12:01am on October 31st of 2025 they will be disqualified and the prize will be given to the person with the second closest guess.• All entries must be received in full U.S. dollars. If a payment platform converts currency and results in less than $5 USD, the entry will not be valid until the total equals $5 USD.• Once EYC2 Corp presses send/hands prize to the winner(s), they are no longer responsible for any prize.• EYC2 Corp reserves the right to disqualify a participant for suspected fraud, attempting to ‘rig’ the game in their favor, or any other negative behavior that does not reflect the values, integrity, or mission statement of EYC2.• Until the contest ends and the winner has been contacted, participants are encouraged to keep a copy of their proof of payment and entry.• This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. By entering, participants acknowledge that it is their responsibility to ensure they are not violating any laws in their place of residence. Entries from jurisdictions that restrict or prohibit cash prize contests will not be eligible.• All decisions made by EYC2 Corp regarding entry eligibility, rule interpretation, winner determination, and prize distribution are final and binding. By participating, entrants agree to accept EYC2 Corp’s judgment as conclusive and waive any right to dispute or challenge those decisions.• Every time a person enters the contest, the total being guessed will change. A participant may be in first place on September 9th and then finish in last place because of this aspect of the contest.• A participant breaking a rule because they didn’t know it was a rule does not entitle them to a refund. It is the responsibility of the participant to read the rules and regulations.• By entering this contest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all stated rules, regulations, and requirements.
